Tri-axial MEMS Accelerometer

MicroSMA is a MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical System) accelerometer offering excellent noise performance, low cost, robustness, immunity to electromagnetic interference and small size.  It is field configurable for one, two or three components, compatible with NetDAS and DAQ24USB and runs from USB power. MicroSMA implements a FBA (Force-Balance Accelerometer) on a silicon chip providing excellent linearity and a high degree of ruggedness. Since MEMS technology does not employ a magnetic coil there is negligible pickup of spurious RF signals. The unit is available both with and without an enclosure for external or internal mounting.

Applications
  • Tri-axial accelerometer sensor for seismic/earthquake networks
  • Strong-motion studies
  • Low noise, high resolution acceleration measurements
  • Seismic monitoring and acceleration sensor arrays
  • Monitoring of dams, structures, LNG facilities, bridges, land slippage and deformation
  • Homeland security, railroad track, intrusion, tunnel detection
  • Compatible with NetDAS and other 24-bit systems
  • Replacement/upgrade/alternative to velocity sensors (seismometers)
  • Low cost alternative/upgrade for legacy electromechanical accelerometers

Features
  • Rugged solid-state MEMS design
  • Large acceleration dynamic range
  • Low power (USB power option)
  • Frequency response DC to low audio
  • Accelerometer self-test
  • Small and rugged environmental crush-proof enclosure
  • Configurable 1 – 3 channels
